East Street
East Street Housing
East Street, Hereford
A small listed pair of semi detached garages have been identified for a potential conversion into two social housing units. Funds have been secured to produce a planning application for the conversion of these two historic and curtilage listed buildings.
East Street is used primarily as a vehicular cut through – but this belies its history as not only the line of the Saxon city ditch and defences but also a very attractive street lined with small dwellings. Pedestrianisation of this street with priority for cycling and pedestrians, new planting and shop refurbishment could replicate Church Street in its interest, character and ability to bring tourists and visitors to Hereford. There are other potential historic buildings along this street that could be refurbished into significant small scale dwellings and by doing so prevent their fall into dereliction. Communion Architect’s have been employed to produce several schemes and a planning application for the conversion of this attractive coach house into two very cute homes.
